5 Things That Happen When You Become a Corgi Owner

1. You get a lot more attention

Fact: People are obsessed with Corgis. Somehow we ended up in this trendy subculture which neither Matt and I knew we became a part of. We are not trend-setters, we rarely do cool things. But owning a Corgi has seemed to change our status.

Example: A couple weeks ago we were outside walking at an outdoor shopping mall, I kid you not a girl RAN outside of her store tears streaming down her face to pet him and of course, snap a few pics. I’m not making this up.

2. You realize there’s no such thing as an indestructible toy

I mean, you’ve got to admire their determination. If a toy shows weakness or has any faults, your Corgi has already found them.

3. You learn about big personalities

Everyone always asks about what their personalities are like. My answer every time? Big. They are truly big dogs in little dog bodies. Honestly, I’m pretty sure Pokey identifies as a Golden Retriever.

4. You’re in the club

…That you never even know you joined. See above for the trendy subculture. The Corgi Club is REAL. So real there are real organized events! See Corgchella. And you bet we’re going. But really, the Corgi community is a great resource, meet ups are great, and it’s fun to bounce ideas off of other owners.

5. You’re constantly reminded you have the best dog ever

Corgis are a lot of dog in one package. They’re compact, sassy and judgy. But they’re also loyal, loving and make their people their whole world. I couldn’t ask for a better sidekick.
