Custom Bit Maker: Kerry Kelley

A couple of months ago, I placed an order with the Kerry Kelley Bits & Spurs company after going through a trial-and-error bit-trying phase with my new cutting horse, Gator.

I had the opportunity to try this handmade bit and lo and behold, Gator loved it. He seems to have custom, expensive taste like his owner.

This bit style was hard to find on the website, so I reached out on Instagram (as a millennial does) and whoever helped me (kudos, KK social media manager) informed me that this particular style is a Short Buster Shank with a MB port. Simple enough, right?

Ordering was super easy. I called up the store and worked with Alex and boom! We were all set. Since this was a completely custom order, I had to wait for it to be built It wasn’t too long of a wait, but trust me when I say I was excited to finally hear it was on its way last week!
