Perry Quarter Horses Through My Lens

This past Friday I got in my car, drove across Eastern Colorado all the way to rural Leoti (pronounced "Lee-OH-Tah), Kansas, a hidden gem in America’s heartland. I was greeted by a gorgeous blue Kansas sky, views for days, stunning Quarter Horse models and some pretty awesome creative ladies I can now call friends!

I had met Jenn Zeller (The South Dakota Cowgirl) last winter at Art of The Cowgirl in Phoenix, Arizona (if you haven’t gone, you must) and had been following along with her on social media ever since. Her skillful photography and eloquence is something that rallies the cowgirl in all of us. When I saw that she was offering a photography and branding workshop within driving distance of my new home base, I jumped at the opportunity.

Before this weekend, I didn’t take myself seriously nor consider myself a photographer, I just enjoyed expressing my creativity through my lens. Capturing horses and the western lifestyle is most definitely my jam and I can’t wait to continue on my photography journey!

Here are some of my favorite snaps captured at Perry Quarter Horses:

Moral of the story: if the South Dakota Cowgirl offers a photography workshop within driving distance, you go.

Enjoy!
