All in Business
I work in a digital role and I don't often get to physically touch hard copies of work. Content is planned, Tweets are tweeted, and designs are created with computer brushes — and it all lives online.
People often pause when I tell them my degree.
Uh, what was that?
Yep, I graduated with an agricultural communications degree, and no that didn’t give me the ability to talk to plants or cows (but let’s be honest that would be pretty freaking cool) but instead gave me the tools to reach both ag and non-ag audiences. With my degree, I believe I have a unique a perspective because I can speak to both sides — the consumers and the producers. Hailing from the city has given me the opportunity to be versed, and candidly, the credibility to be able to pitch and understand the average consumer’s mindset because I can see through both lenses.
Look, the internet isn’t going away anytime soon. It can be anxiety-inducing, thinking about all the additional work an online presence can require — but does it have to be? By doing a little planning and putting these 3 tips into play for taking your agricultural biz online, it’ll be done (and manageable!) in no time.
W-O-W.
The first month of freelancing has come and gone, and if we’re being completely honest — I didn’t even realize it. Time flies when you work for yourself I guess! These past 30+ days have been full of blessings, surprises and A LOT of learning curves.
I’ve officially made it to the first real Friday of my full-time freelancing career. Whew. What a week!
Thanks to the announcement of my career change earlier this week on social media, I’ve received a ton of kind feedback and have even had a few new leads come in!
You read that right!
I feel like it’s not official until I create a “Life Event” on Facebook or something, but it’s true, I’m officially self-employed! Ahhhh! This transition has definitely been a work in progress this past year, and really there was no “perfect” time to take this leap of faith but here I am, ready to jump in.
It’s almost that time, it’s almost RÉSUMÉ SZN!
The holidays are almost here, and then the spring semester! I may be a couple of years out of college, but trust me the last thing you want to think about during your last semester of college is tuning up (or creating) your résumé so that you can start applying for jobs.
Working from home isn’t all roses and lounging in my favorite yoga pants — it’s isolating and sometimes it’s just uninspiring. For any of those considering making the switch, OR who already do I wanted to share a few good tips to get you through your workdays.
Freelancer.
I think hearing that word for some people makes their skin crawl, to others, they feel a rush of pity, like being a freelancer is a bad thing. There’s a funky stereotype around the word, and I’m not sure why.
