A Love Letter to my Horse — for Bluebonnet Feeds
The way to tell a horse you love them
The way to tell a horse you love them is by meeting their every need.
You say it by providing clean, fresh, water and offering the best of feed.
You say it how you ride, you say it when you take the time to brush.
You say it when you turnout, you say it when you’re mucking through slush.
You say it by completing late night barn checks and early morning chores.
You say it in the darkest of winter, when you can only ride indoors.
You say it when you pay the big vet bills, and don’t forget the custom shoes.
You say it how you care for them, even when you lose.
You say it when you put them first, even when they go grey.
You say it when you let them be a horse and join the herd and play.
You say it when you make more time, and when you say no to plans.
After all, the barn is where you’ll always find your biggest fans.
You say it by honoring the ones who came before, and sharing that love with the many more.
Finally, you say it when you stack hay and the way you haul.
But I think the best way to say it, is without even saying it, at all.
