How To Sell A Horse

If I only knew making the decision to sell the horse would be the most difficult part, it wasn’t.

Let me tell you, I don’t know how people market horses full-time. What I thought would be an easy, black-and-white process of listing the horse with all the info, videos, photos and price turned out to be another full-time job responding to calls, texts and DMs.

Re: My Horses Live in My Backyard

If you’re considering buying some property or if you’re thinking about adding some ponies to your pasture — I’ve found there are some things you should consider, so instead of oversharing and going into detail of every single one of hypochondriac horse owner stories, I’ll share the list of pros and cons to boarding your horses in your backyard!

The Hype Behind Iconoclast Boots

Things have changed a lot since I was a 14-year-old horse girl. Now I’m a horse girl making adult horse girl money and of course — spending it.

If you haven’t noticed the horse market, the trailer market, the hay market is nuts, so I get wanting to save a few bucks here or there. So here’s what I propose, I try, so you can buy. Deal?

So, on this episode of what’s in my — a novice, Non-Pro, adult ammy — whatever your discipline wants to call me’s — tack room: support boots.

So if you’re all about supporting your horse’s legs and like using medicine boots — this blog post is for you.

Support boots are nothing new to the horse world their main purpose is to support (clever, huh?). While supportive/orthopedic/sports medicine boots are not a foolproof way to ensure your horse’s soundness, they do significantly decrease your horse's chances of developing suspensory-related injuries while performing.

Meet the newest boot pair in my tack room: Iconoclast boots.

Getting Down The Road: Hauling Horses Safely

If you’re anything like me, you still get giddy every time you see a horse trailer. Come to Arizona in the winter, and you’ll be sure to see a few.

We’re well into the winter season here in the Grand Canyon state, where warm-weather horsemen and horsewomen flock to Arizona in droves.

Fair weather, large competition purses coupled with the holidays not only means more vehicles on the road, but horse trailers as well.

A lot of us don’t give driving a second thought. There’s a certain level of awareness that should always be had (and often isn’t), but trust me, when you’re hooked on to a 5,000 lbs. steel trailer hauling a few 1,000 lbs. horses you become a lot more aware.

Dreams vs. Goals

I always take more away from my lessons with Lanny than just horsemanship.

When I bought this horse last April I had dreams, but no goals.

Brian Knapp said, “There is a difference between a dream and a goal. A dream is a gift you want to be given. A goal is something you work to achieve.”

A goal is something you work at. So what am I working for?

Supplements: Yay or Neigh

To supplement or not to supplement, that is the question.

There’s a supplement for just about everything — oils, powders and pellets for every benefit or ailment under the sun. if you can think of it, it’s probably out there.

All any rider wants is for our equine partners to look and feel their best — why is it so hard to not be overwhelmed by all the choices and the stigma? While not everyone is a fan of supplements, I am pro-supplement. Of course, with my veterinarian’s guidance.
